Therapy is about the relationship first and foremost and I cherish the relationships I've built with clients over the years. Seeing the growth and being some small part of someone's journey is a privilege I don't take lightly.
My goal is to help you find the best version of yourself and work with you so you may become that self. It's a team sport!
I work from an attachment therapy perspective, but also do cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), use mindfulness, humor, and other flexible approaches to working with my clients. I respect everyone as an individual and therefore tailor our sessions to your unique needs and perspectives.
When needed, I work from an integrative approach to use nutrition, physical health, and holistic approaches to help heal from the inside out using my training and certification from AFPA (American Fitness Professionals and Associates).
Finally, my office is a safe and inclusive space. Any race, religion, gender identity, and sexuality is seen as a unique part of who you are and will never be judged.
We all struggle sometimes. Life can be unpredictable and it's ok to not feel "ok". Anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses can occur, whether biologically or due to life events, and it's ok to ask for help. It is human nature to seek happiness and wellness, and sometimes we need a little help and guidance to get there.
I work with adolescents through adults, but working with teens could be considered my “specialty.” I have been working in a High School for nearly eight years, and I have found the best approach to working with teenagers is to “meet them where they’re at.” I offer a non-judgemental, empathetic environment (with a little humor mixed in) where the client is encouraged to share any and all struggles to help work toward a goal of wellness.
Congratulations on taking the first step! Making the decision to seek out counseling can often be a bit scary and overwhelming, but I hope to make this process as stress-free and productive as possible. I can't wait to hear from you and guide you in taking the next steps to feeling well.
Hi, I’m Patricia Palko, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. With over 15 years of experience in mental health, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals of all ages—from children to adults—across a variety of settings.
My journey into therapy began with my own experiences of overcoming generational trauma. I learned firsthand how to navigate obstacles and foster personal growth, and this inspired me to help others do the same.
In my practice, I focus on guiding my clients to uncover the core experiences that shape their reactions and thought processes. Together, we work on emotional regulation so they can lead their best lives.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness CBT, to tailor my methods to each individual’s needs. I also provide support for parents and caregivers through Family Systems Therapy, ensuring we meet the unique dynamics of each family.
What matters most to me as a clinician is creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can truly express themselves. I strive to offer empathy, validation, and understanding; empowering each person to make meaningful changes in their lives.
I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey of growth and healing.
